Cuerny the Donkey is a donkey named after Cuerny, the emperor of the Roman Empire. Originally introduced as an insult by Moltenw, the then-sultan of the Ottoman Empire, the donkey quickly became a beloved figure within Rome.
Though born out of mockery, Cuerny the Donkey was embraced by the Roman people as a symbol of humor and resilience. He remains permanently housed in Rome and is considered one of the city’s most iconic figures.
