Longyearbyen is a town located on the island of Spitsbergen in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard that lies at the convergence of the Arctic Ocean with the Atlantic Ocean. It was created by LukePJ25. It is currently a part of the Democratic Siberian Republic. It currently has a population of 2.
In recent times, Longyearbyen has expanded to the island of Nordaustlandet via the Spitsbergen Bridge. Longyearbyen is also the location of Longyearbyen International Airport (LYBE INTL.).
Longyearbyen is the second furthest-north settlement in the server, closely following New Novosilka.
History
Founded on the 25th of August 2025, Longyearbyen initially joined France (now the Kingdom of France). It eventually cut ties with France and joined the Democratic Siberian Republic.
A new deck arch bridge, the Spitsbergen Bridge was constructed and opened to public use on the 8th of September 2025. The bridge allowed for the expansion of the town northwards.
