About
Zama is a town founded by Bete1 (Formally known as Petem8) in late April, 2025, on the mountainous cliffs of Lake Baikal in Siberia. Originally intended as a wilderness refuge for new players seeking safety in the rugged terrain of Siberia and northern Mongolia, it was envisioned as a Mongolian heritage town. However, Petem8 ultimately chose to construct the settlement in a Romanesque style with heavy Byzantine and Eastern Mediterranean influences.
In addition to its cultural significance, Zama is home to the main courthouse of LibreMC, built after Petem8 was appointed a server judge. The courthouse continues to serve as the site of minor server disputes.
History
Zama was first established under the name Khurzhir, a misspelling of the nearby town Khuzhir. It later underwent several name changes, including Mongolia and Yelentsy, before finally being renamed Zama.
Early in its history, Zama joined the Council Republics and remained a member for months after most leaders departed, following controversies over insensitive remarks. Later, it briefly aligned with Aespera’s United Nations before seeking independence.
Despite its ambitions, Zama struggled with resource shortages due to limited mining activity. To strengthen its position, it joined the newly created USSR, though the union soon collapsed due to lack of participation and internal difficulties. From this dissolution, the nation of Siberia was established, with Zama becoming its capital city.

Zama’s development was supported by several donations from notable figures on LibreMC:
- Sheepishtick35 contributed gold in the town’s early days.
- Sabo provided Bete1 with an Efficiency V, Mending, and Unbreaking shovel when Zama was newly founded.
- Aespera was the most significant supporter, donating gold, later supplying 8–9 double chests of stone, and eventually gifting a full set of god-tier netherite armor and tools.
